Ive been casually sketching out faces for a bit now and decided to turn some into painting, they are the first paintings Ive done on canvas....... i hate it. canvas suck, it moves and its got a texture that wants to show up in the worst places, i think ill stick with illustration board. I like loosening up though, colored pencils can get a little boring at times

Looks great!

A question:
If this was intended for print, how would you go about reproducing it? Would you photograph it yourself, leave it to someone else to photograph or would you scan it in sections?

I'm sure you probably know this (but just 'n case...), but canvas works with you a lot better after about three or four layers of gesso. You can smooth it out pretty good, and then create texture where you want. Cross-weave your gesso layers for even more fun.

Btw, you're work really rocks. Makes me want to dig out my oils again and paint really big! Thanks for sharing.

:D

It takes a little work, but painting on wood works great for me. It's a sturdy carrier, and you just have to gesso it three or four coats and it's smooth and clean. I absolutely recommend it.

That reminds me...must photograph some paintings.

Anyway. Love your work...great aesthetic.

Wow, messy station. :giggle:
Ok, not really. My 'station' is my bedroom. My pencils are all just shoved in a little bag and my paper is just randomly where I find it.

Ren and Stimpy FTW. that painting is as clean as a vector drawing in Illustrator. I fucking hate painting. Hodges is showing me the wonders of prismacolor + rubber cement thinner right now. That Abbi piece will be done on Wednesday. Be sure to check my DA for it!

Interesting, none of your stuff is on canvas? I really really wanna get back into traditional painting...But I too hate canvas >( I should get some illustration board...but my friends tell me that wood is the best.

i guess it depends on your medium, you cat really use colored pencils on wood, and i would say masonite board is best for painting, its lighter and cheaper than wood
